b) Listen again. Note down two or
three details about the answers to each of the three question. Compare your
note. Read the scripts on pp 151-2 to check.
Question 1: English has become less rigid.
The English
spoken now is very different.
Hindi English as Bengali English, have absorbed many words.
Question 2:
Older people are not really very happy about the fact that in two
languages, they usually tend to use the words of both in a single conversation
or in a sentence.
The older people in general are a bit more conservative about speaking a language.
Question 3:
The language and how people express themselves reflect a lot
of the character of the people.
Languages and the way people talk are often misunderstood.
People from other countries think they are rude because many times the
way they speak is very direct and that is also reflected in the language.
